The Whole Hog is a nationwide annual race series launched by Adventure Challenge Events in 2007. Each leg is a foot based adventure and involves competitors facing numerous challenges/obstacles around the course.
Challenges vary between venues and events so it is impossible for us to provide a definitive list of what you will have to overcome in order to go The Whole Hog.. And where would be the fun if we did?! What we can guarantee is a bit of mud, and a lot of fun! Each challenge may be opted out of, known as taking "The Piglet Option", but this incurs a time penalty and we have found that competitors are generally up for whatever we may throw at them!
Venues so far include Suffolk, Sheffield, Alton and Newcastle and this list is set to expand year on year. Entries are welcome from both those wanting to raise sponsorship for their chosen charity, and those who just want to enter for a personal challenge. From 2008 onwards these events will be specifically designed for teams made up of three people but we are still allowing individuals to enter. Team categories will be All Male, All Female and Mixed; prizes will be awarded in each category.
It is important to note that the categories are completely separate and consequently if you have entered as part of a team you will not be in with a chance of winning a prize in the individual category; although your individual time will be recorded, your calculated race time will be your team mean. Please give careful consideration to whether you would like to enter as part of a team or alone before booking.
Overall The Whole Hog offers so much more than just a race; each leg is set in a fantastic location, entails a set of uniquely designed challenges, and makes for a truly memorable experience. We received very positive feedback from the 2007 series and the 2008 events are set to be much bigger and better! The events are perfect for teambuilding so why not gather some friends/colleagues and have a go...
